The cable television series closely follows the multiple story lines of the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series,[6] whose author said that the show's pilot script was very faithful to his work.[7] The series begins with Ned Stark (Sean Bean) being asked to be the Hand of the King (Mark Addy). Ned and his wife Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) receive a letter from Catelyn's sister, Lysa (Kate Dickie) that gives them reason to believe that rival House Lannister was the cause of the previous Hand's death. Ned must travel south to help the king and find out who killed the Hand of the King, John Arryn (John Standing), while trying to protect his family from the Lannisters.

Meanwhile, the exiled Viserys Targaryen (Harry Lloyd), son of the former king, believes he still has the rightful claim to the throne. Lee Kak (later played by Micky Yoochun) is the Crown Prince. When he is ready to marry, Lee Kak wants to marry a beautiful woman. Boo-Yong (later played by Han Ji-Min) and Hwa-Yong (later played by Jung Yoo-Mi) are sisters. Hwa-Yong, the older sister wants to marry Crown Prince Lee Kak, but her father makes it clear that younger sister Boo-Yong will marry the Crown Prince. Hwa-Yong is so upset, she uses an an iron to burn Boo-Yong's face, pretending it was an accident. Now, Boo-Yong carries a big scar on her face. Eventually, older sister Hwa-Yong marries Crown Prince Lee Kak. Time passes and are now adults. 

Younger sister Boo-Yong is now a smart woman, good with needlework. Older sister Hwa-Yong is uneasy that her husband, Crown Prince Lee Kak, and Boo-Young get along well. One day, Crown Prince Lee Kak wakes up in the early morning. He finds that Hwa-Yong is not next to him. He feels something strange about the situation and calls for an eunuch. At this time, an eunuch comes running to the Crown Prince and informs him that Hwa-Yong is found dead in a pond. Lee Kak suspects that his wife's death is not by accident. He puts together a team to investigate his wife's death. When the team awaits to interview a witness, a group of assassins appears and chases them. Crown Prince Lee Kak and his men are chased to the edge of a cliff. The group jumps off the cliff.

Present Day

When Park Ha (later played by Han Ji-Min) was young, her father remarried and Park Ha gained older step-sister Se-Na (later played by Jung Yoo-Mi). When their parents left for work, older step-sister Se-na despised having to take care of her younger sister. One day, while younger sister Park Ha sleeps inside a truck, the truck suddenly departs. Even though Se-Na sees the truck leaving, she turns around and pretends that it isn't happening. 

Time passes, younger sister Park Ha is now living in America. While, Park Ha sells fruits as a sidewalk vendor, Yong Tae-Yong (Micky Yoochun) sees her and feels a connection with Park Ha. Yong Tae-Moo (Lee Tae-Sung) appears in front of Yong Tae-Young. They are cousins. The following day, the two men boards a yacht. While the boat is sailing, they have a small fight and Yong Tae-Yong falls into the water. His cousin doesn't attempt to save Yong Tae-Yong and actually attempts to hide evidence that he was there. He then jumps into the water and swims away. At this time, younger sister Park Ha receives a phone call that her family has been located in South Korea. Park Ha travels to South Korea and learns that her father has just passed away. At her father's funeral, Park Ha meets her step-mother and older step-sister Se-Na. Park Ha has no memory of how she was separated from her family. Park Ha settles down in Seoul. One night, when she comes back to her rooftop room, she discovers four men, in Korean traditional clothing, sitting in her room.

The King 2 Hearts 2012 Korean Drama

In 1989, when the Berlin Wall collapses, a King and Crown Prince watch on TV, but the young Prince doesn't care about what is happening on the television. Prince Jae-Ha doesn't want even to become the king.

23 years later, Prince Jae-Ha takes military training. He isn't serious about anything, a playboy of sorts who looks forward to his discharge from the military. Meanwhile, the King (Lee Sung-Min) announces that military officers from South and North Korea will hold joint training sessions. The unified team will take part in the WOC (World Officers Contest).

Hang-Ah is a special forces instructor in North Korea. She is a great soldier with exceptional skills, but Hang-Ah longs to find a fine man to marry, just like other ordinary women. Due to her career in the military, she has never been in a romantic relationship. A high ranking military officer then asks Hang-Ah to join the WOC. Hang-Ah turns down the offer due to fears it might hurt her ability to eventually marry. The high ranking officer offers that if she joins the WOC, the North Korean government will take responsibility for her marriage and find her the right man. Hang-Ah accepts the offer and with two other members travels to South Korea.

Jae-Ha is the first one from the royal family who is discharged from the military as a low ranking private, but he doesn't care. Jae-Ha is just excited to get his release from the military. Unfortunately for Jae-Ha, he learns that he is selected as a member of the joint Korean team for the WOC. Jae-Ha is furious at his older brother, the King, but the King threatens to kick him out of the family if he refuses. Jae-Ha now has no choice but to join.

During the training period for WOC, North and South Korean military officers must room together. Jae-Ha sees his roommate, busy doing martial arts. Jae-Ha runs to a high ranking officer and asks for his own private room. The high ranking officer refuses his request and Jae-Ha must room with Hang-Ah.

Police detective Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs) is newly returned to work after being in a car crash along with his wife Hannah (Laura Allen) and his son Rex (Dylan Minnette). After the crash Britten discovers that every time he goes to sleep he switches between two realities, one in which his wife died in the crash and one in which his son died. To differentiate between the two realities, Britten wears different colored rubber bands in each reality: red, for the one in which his wife is alive, and green, for the one in which his son is alive. Scenes in the "red" reality use warm tones, while scenes in the "green" reality use cool ones.

In the red reality he is partnered with rookie Efrem Vega (Wilmer Valderrama) and is seeing a confrontational department-recommended psychiatrist Dr. Lee (BD Wong). His wife has redecorated the house and begins pushing him to move in an apparent effort to move past their son's death. In the green reality, Britten maintains his long-time partner Isaiah "Bird" Freeman (Steve Harris) and sees a more nurturing psychologist, Dr. Evans (Cherry Jones). His son, previously a football player, has recently returned to playing tennis, and is coached by Hannah's former doubles partner Tara (Michaela McManus). Britten remains unsure which of the two realities, if either, is real, and begins to worry he is losing his sanity when details begin to cross over between the two.

Then one day, Yoon-Hee gets a phone call from her landlord. Her landlord asks for an additional 100 million won to extend her lease. Yoon-Hee goes to her mom’s house and asks her mother for the money that she and her husband deposited, but Yoon-Hee’s mother invested all of their money in her son’s business. Yoon-Hee can’t extend her lease and must now move out. Yoon-Hee and Terry look for a new place and they are introduced to a house located on the second floor of a building. The building is owned by Chung-Ae and her husband. Yoon-Hee will soon experience the biggest crisis in her life.
