More and more people are using iPads to watch online TV with, and therefore more and more people take them away on holiday from the UK and hope to use them to watch UK TV online when on holiday on their iPads.
There's just one big problem, and that is it will not let you do that.
All of the major UK TV broadcasters block access to their online TV shows if you are outside of the UK. This means if you were on holiday in Spain and planning to catch up on mission episodes of Doctor Who then you are out of luck unless you get some help.
You will need external help to watch UK TV overseas as the blocks put in place by all the major broadcasters like ITV and BBC are geographical blocks. This means no amount of fiddling with your machine is going to solve the problem that you are in one country but need to be in another (The UK) to watch it.
There are a couple of ways around the problem. One is to use a DNS changer, the other is to use a UK VPN service. A DNS changer is good as it enables you to hide your real location and make it look as though you are in the UK even when you are in Spain, as an example.
As it uses a change to your DNS there is no bandwidth loss, and hence no picture loss!
Also a DNS changer is great as it can be used on Smart TV's, Gaming Consoles, mobiles as well as Computers and tablets. Also you do not need to install any software to use it, it's one simple change to your machine, but if you were looking for a free DNS solution then you won't find one that will work reliably as they will most likely crash at times of peak demand. There are several good paid solutions out there, which we cover.
The other option is to use a UK VPN, now whilst you have to install a small piece of software on your machine, it offers some killer advantages.
It scrambles and secures all of your web browsing and email.
1.) This means you can browse the web in total anonymity - no one can see what websites your computer has visited. Thiere is no history!
2.) It encrypts all of your email seamlessly
3.) Points 1 and 2 above mean that your online identity is safe, you can't be hacked in wifi hotspots, keeping you safe from electronic id theft.
4.) It enables you to change your apparent location - this means you can be in Spain yet appear to be accessing the internet via a UK ip address.
Now whilst there are many VPN's out there, to watch UK TV overseas it has to be a UK VPN not a US one or any other country. Also any free ones out there simply won't offer the bandwidth to handle full streaming video, meaning if you try them all you will see is a black screen or a frozen picture at best. Nor will free VPN's offer an app for the iPad! A paid solution brings reliability and peace of mind.
Both solutions will let you watch UK TV in USA on iPad or any country for that matter.
